Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton - 4995 Market Street SE (Calgary, AB)

The Calgary Kids of Steel is Calgary's premier child & youth and newly this year also paratriathlon event organized by the Kronos Triathlon Club. This event is geared towards young athletes between the ages of 4 and 22.  Athletes at all ends of the spectrum (first-timers, recreational, and competitive) are welcome.

Age Categories & Event Distances

Athlete Age
Please note, that your athlete's age group is based on how old they are on Dec 31, 2024.  Our registration system should automatically select the correct age group. 

What is "Draft Legal" 
This is a high-performance category that is reserved for athletes that have been certified by Triathlon Alberta. All other athletes should register in the standard age group categories. More info about Triathlon Alberta Draft Legal Rule Highlights.

 
 
 

Western Canada Development Series

The Calgary Kids of Steel is the second stop on the Western Canada Development Series. This series gives Junior triathletes the opportunity to compete in competitive draft-legal racing within western Canada. The series consists of 5 races hosted in three western provinces over 3 months culminating in an overall series winner.

Triathlon Canada Para Designated Race

*NEW* this year! CKOS is proud to be a Triathlon Canada Para Designated Race.  Athletes identifying as Para athletes (age 16 and older) will race a 350m pool swim, 12.5km non-draft bike, 2.5km run (NOTE: athletes who use a race wheelchair for the run will only have a swim-bike option due to run course not being suitable for race chairs). If you believe you fall into this category please register and then e-mail:  lisa.mensink@trikronos.com with details of your para needs so that we can ensure you have a successful event. Register by May 26th to ensure that your specific needs will be met. Please note that you must bring your own guide/handler if needed.
